Happy Birthday, Relativity!
Today is the 100 year anniversary of the publication of Einstein’s paper On the Electrodynamics of Moving Bodies. This paper introduced special relativity and its radically new understanding of time and motion. Remarkably, the essense of special relativity can be described using only high school algebra.
It is hard to imagine a work of both similar impact and general accessibility being written today when academia has become so specialized.

I’ve just downloaded MP3 files from the Teaching Company entitled, “Einstein’s Miraculous Year,” and “Relativity in a Nutshell,” but I’ve not listened to them yet. I’ll let you know what they are like after I do.
